We use two special test vials. Only a small amount of the crushed pill is added—less than the amount of test reagent. Each vial contains just 0.1 ml of test reagent. This is the amount you see, and this is the amount you are provided with. The test reagent is corrosive, so we cannot add more. However, 0.1 ml is sufficient for the test. Filling the vial completely with reagent would not only make testing difficult or impossible, but it would also be unsafe. In Vial A, the initial color change is green, which gradually becomes a darker green. In Vial B, the initial color is red, which gradually becomes a darker red.
